Back-to-School Shopping for Latch-Key Kids
It’s almost back-to-school time and Shiloh Spiritual Center wants to help single-parent/latch-key kid families handle the extra expenses that are required. Can you identify a family where the child/children (between 5-12 years of age) must come home to an empty house? These are the Latch-Key Kids of our community. Please provide the parent’s name and contact information by August 10th
The goal is to reach more families and partner with others in the community who will donate funds to make this Back-To-School shopping spree a success. $120 will buy two sets of uniforms, a pair of shoes, a new backpack and school supplies for one child; $80 will buy the supplies for a child who isn’t required to wear school uniforms. Let’s help the kids go to school feeling confident and ready!
Additionally, for the event, each child will need a “shopping buddy” to accompany him/her throughout the selected store during the designated period of the “shopping spree.” Those who volunteer must be screened by Shiloh’s Director and be willing to attend a mini-training session before the shopping event.
Please call Shiloh Spiritual Center, Rev. Dr. Roxie Hart @ 619 640-2020 with the parent’s name and contact information. If you want to help in some wayÖvolunteer, donate funds or simply find out more, and offer your ideas/feedback about this program, please call or send us an email: shilohspirit1@aol.com. Send your donation to: Shiloh Spiritual Center, PO Box 16161, San Diego, Ca. 92176. Please indicate on the envelope “Back to School Program” or donate via PAYPAL on our Center’s website: www.shilohspiritualcenter.com

Whole Being Weekend Begins Registration
for 9/23-9/25 Festival in Idyllwild
Each year hundreds of like-minded people come together in the mountains of Southern California to enjoy healthy foods, learning, music and to celebrate life and nature. The Whole Being Weekend is a retreat experience offered this September 23-25 in the beautiful Idyllwild mountains, 1 hour from both Los Angeles and San Diego. Here campers enjoy an all-inclusive wellness weekend at Camp Buckhorn. Included are a wide variety of seminars, presentations, classes, concerts, drum circles, group experiences, personal counseling and so much more.
For more than 40 years, about 400 people have come together to share their special gifts: teaching workshops, offering massages in the healing gardens, performing at the cabaret in the evenings, taking nature hikes, swimming in the pool and playing disc golf at the camp. The music is fantastic—including Karl Anthony’s amazing performances—and the weekend culminates on Sunday afternoon with a circle of heartfelt love and appreciation for one another and new friends.
This “all ages” weekend brings young and old together to learn from each other. Kids under 12 are free. The bunk beds are comfortable in the cabins, or you could pitch a tent and RV parking—with a limited number of hook-ups—is also available.
For less than $200 / person, attendees receive all meals, learning sessions, massage, healings, concerts and all activities. Come celebrate 41 years of holistic and spiritual community. For more information go to www.thewholebeingweekend.com or call Stephen Markowitz 619-944-7838.
