“Fragile Day” Benefits Oil-Spill Cleanup
“Fragile Day” benefits oil spill cleanup by benefiting charities that are at the forefront of helping the habitat affected by the environmental tragedy. A group of music industry veterans came together to release a new song called “Fragile Day” by musical duo Wilderland. The song is available for sale at iTunes ($1.98 per download) and 100% of the proceeds will benefit three important charities that are making a difference to help clean up the damage to the environment and wildlife: The Gulf Restoration Network, EarthShare and The WILD Foundation.
A music video of the song is available at FragileDay.com, which also provides information about downloading the song on iTunes and how to contribute to this worthy cause. The song includes the lyric “Fish are dimming while they’re swimming / Blackened ocean of foam” which, although written nearly two years prior, was about fish dying because of an oil spill. Fine art photographer Roy DiTosti provided the image entitled “Blue Eggs Nest” which was used for the album cover.

KidXpress for Kids Who Want to Write
KidXpress, a new local program that will pair kids with a desire to write with local adult mentors, will have its kick-off event for prospective volunteers, donors, parents and kids, 7pm, Aug. 7, at an Oceanside venue, 1302 Stewart Street, the hacienda of bestselling author Victor Villasenor.
“It will be a party with a purpose,” says Thornton Sully, one of the founders and also editor-in-chief of A Word with You Press. “Come listen to the live music, enjoy wines and desserts, meet new friends, and let us introduce you to KidXpress.”
Robby Hoffman, director of KidXpress, explains the tutoring sessions will be available beginning this fall at the headquarters of A Word with You Press, 802 Tremont St., Oceanside, just off Pacific Coast Highway and Wisconsin Ave. “Our plan is to take kids who have a desire to write but may cringe when called upon in English class because they lack confidence, and provide a mentor who will crank up their abilities. Then we’ll publish their work along with their peers in an anthology, alert the press, give them a book-signing event. What better way to empower them than with the pride that comes from being a published author?” Hoffman says that later the KidXpress concept will be expanded to include visual, media, and performance arts.
Visit www.awordwithyoupress.com . If you’re interested in volunteering as a mentor, contact Robby Hoffman, robby@awordwithyoupress.com. If you’d like to volunteer time or donate money or services for this event, contact Jamie Gilliam at girliegirl066@aol.com or by phone at 760-846-2241.
